As mechanical as they may sound, piercing tools are
quintessential to perform a safe procedure, so that you can come to enjoy the
results of your piercing experience.
The most basic of the tools used for a piercing is the humble
needle. This one is made of surgical steel; strong and of the highest quality.
The thickness of the needle will vary depending on the type of piercing being
carried out. The piercing needle has a hollow plastic tube called a cannula. It
is attached to the needle and contains the jewelry that will be inserted into
the opening made. This is always created from good quality metal and safe for
use on wounds. Piercings require instruments like the Foerster clamp; Septum
clamps or needle drivers to hold the skin during the procedures. Dermal anchor
is another insertion tool used widely.
Small & big tapers and stretching tools like the spiral
shape and various others can be used to keep the hole from closing while the
decorated, designed and even glow-in-the-dark, stunning pieces of art, are used
as jewelry. Jewelry pliers and ring openers are instruments that assist in
changing the jewelry after the piercing to ensure smooth removal and
replacement. Other items that you will most definitely see in a piercing studio
are autoclaves, which are used to sterilize the equipment being used.
Disposable needles and gloves will be discarded once the procedure is done.
Clean and sterile
settings and instruments are a must for any piercing and is religiously
followed by all professional piercers.
